Plan your meals!

Hi Friends :)

I hope you had an amazing New Years Eve, I certainly did! Now that we're starting the new year I want to get back into healthy eating! I always find I'm better at sticking to a healthy diet if I plan my meals. This may seem really silly to some people and if you can eat well without doing this then hats off to you!  If I don't plan meals I'll end up just getting a takeaway and that's not good. I'll also end up buying far more food than I need. You'd think after a year of living alone I would have learnt by now? but I haven't! So here are 5 tips to become a professional meal planner...

Tip 1: Plan out your week BEFORE shopping.

I used to think I'd go to the supermarket and be inspired to chose what to eat? WRONG. I would always over buy. Plan your meals out and then make a shopping list from your plan and STICK TO IT. This planner is from Kikki K but you can buy some REALLY cute ones in Paperchase!

Tip 2: Make a logical order!

It's important that if you're having yoghurt and berries one morning that you're not then having eggs the next, then cereal, then rye bread, then a fruit bowl. Although it would be lovely, if you're going to buy berries you need to eat them quickly or they'll go off! So make sure there's a logical order to your meals without there being TOO much repetition.

Tip 3: Make your food portions in lunch boxes.

This may seem silly but I always use lunch boxes for work because it makes me eat less! You can only fill lunch boxes to a certain point so as long as you don't buy a massive one you should be okay! My ones are from Happy Jackson and Urban Outfitters!

Tip 4: Plan big cooking sessions

If you're going to have the same meal for a couple of days don't cook them separately! Make one big batch and then re-heat it when you need to. This way you're only actually cooking a couple of times a week.

Tip 5: Become a recipe hunter

Don't stick with the same boring stuff all the time! It's very easy to get into the habit of making the same meals so when planning next weeks meals I decided to branch out and buy food I wouldn't normally get: Soup and Pita bread! This may sound boring to you but changing your meal from a wrap to a pita just keeps it more interesting.

And those are my top 5 tips!

I hope you have all had a fantastic start to the year, I'll be back on Monday with my December favourites...

Love & hugs,
